Kiva Motnyk
Thompson Street Studio
Kiva Motnyk is an artist and designer creating objects for the home with a focus on experimental textiles. She explores connections between art, industry and nature, through a process of discovery, conception and making.
Kiva founded Thompson Street Studio in NYC, creating work that blurs the line between art and commerce. Collaboration and process is an important part of her development, inspired by ideas of community, family and tradition.
Her sensibility is rooted in a love of color, texture and pattern expressed in a modern application of traditional techniques: silk screening, weaving, knitting, quilting, and multiple dye methods. In 2015 Kiva co founded YaloRun with artist’s Coulter Fussell and Susan Cianciolo, a textile school and supply shop in Water Valley, Mississippi.
Thompson Street Studio’s collection of objects for the home debuted at the Ralph Pucci Gallery in NYC and has been featured at IKO IKO Space and The Apartment at356 S. Mission Rd.
