Piecework Collective is an international group of artists and designers re-examining the use of patchwork and quilt-making in contemporary art practice. Engaging in visual arts and contemporary design, the collective explores the historical, social and gendered narratives in textile practice through group exhibitions that aim to show outstanding examples of conceptual craftsmanship. The goal of the Collective is to seek out innovators and practitioners engaging with cloth in ways that look to the concept of the Quilt as an archive of the past, and object of the future. Each member participates collectively in exhibitions and events that seek to challenge and re-write the identity of the maker as an agent for change, while establishing a voice and platform for diversity of practice within the arts.
